A Weary Mind, A Restless Soul
2026, Soft pastel, 35x 50cm.
Some people feel everything too deeply. They carry emotions quietly. They feel too much, for too long. They absorb the weight of the world around them and continue enduring long after exhaustion begins to settle within them. But there comes a moment when even the heart grows tired — too tired to keep carrying everything alone.
Sometimes the exhaustion is not physical. Sometimes it is the soul itself that feels worn down, crushed beneath emotional weight that has been carried for too long in silence. The world begins to feel heavier, colder, more distant. There comes a quiet withdrawal, a hollowness that slowly settles within, where warmth no longer seems to reach you the way it once did, and even being understood begins to feel exhausting.
When someone feels too much for too long, the spirit can begin to numb itself simply to survive. Sometimes, after carrying so much emotionally, the only thing left is the desire to feel nothing at all — if only for a moment of peace. Isolation begins to feel safer than connection, silence more comforting than conversation. Not out of coldness, and not out of lack of care, but because the soul no longer has the strength to carry so much all at once.
But remember, the warmth will always return. “The sun will always rise again, even when our minds grow weary and our souls become restless.”
