Broken Childhood

2025, Soft pastel on pastelmat board, 30 × 42cm

Children are our future.

Their innocence is not a luxury—it is something we are meant to protect.

We complain about what is missing in our own lives, while out there children are starving, sleeping rough, living in fear. Every child deserves the warmth of a loving home, a place where they feel safe, seen, and cared for. The world is big enough for everyone to live in peace. Yet after thousands of years, after countless wars and much suffering, humanity still hasn’t learned what peace really means.

We let greedy, power-hungry, soulless “leaders” send innocent people into battles they never asked for, destroying families, stealing childhoods, while the ones who created the war hide comfortably behind their walls and wealth.

Maybe I am naïve, but I would rather believe in peace, I would rather give it a chance, a real chance, than watch another child lose their childhood because of someone else’s hunger for power.

No child should carry the weight of a war they didn’t create.
